Welcome!
Grasshopper Homestead is for the woman who feels drawn to the wisdom of the past, but still has to live faithfully in the responsibilities of the present. Here, we recover old-fashioned homemaking skills, simple household routines, pantry wisdom, rural living principles, and Christian rhythms of stewardship — not to recreate another era, but to build a steadier, more peaceful, more capable home today. This is a place for women who want to slow the hurry, reduce the overwhelm, and cultivate a home that is rooted in grace and ready for real life.

Kitchen Remodel, Part 6

It has been awhile since I posted updated pictures of the kitchen.

The cabinet above the stove still needs to be painted and the doors attached.

Here's some closer shots of the retro-styled Vent-a-Hood.

The window above the sink with the geranium curtains:

I really like how the yellow wall color turned out.

The new wall and overhead cabinet really help the refrigerator look more integrated into the overall kitchen design.  I would love to replace it with a white retro-styled one from Big Chill, but since it still works, I can't really justify it!  :-)

Here's the new shelf and cabinet, along with some Fiesta already on display.  The wall color seems to be perfect for showing off the brilliant Fiesta colors.  The light fixture is from Schoolhouse Electric.

As you can see, there is still some painting that needs to be done.  I will be working on that this weekend.  Finally, here's the ceiling light fixture, also from Schoolhouse Electric.  I just LOVE the way it looks!
