I recently discovered the painting above and it resonates very deeply in my soul. You see, since I was a child I have had a dream to own and live on a small farm. I am sure I was influenced by living next to and helping my grandparents with their farm, but I also think this desire is deeper. Something about it feeds my soul and brings me peace. As the painting shows, there are many possible aspects to rural living and farm life. No one way is right or wrong, but certainly a family must consider its needs, desires and resources. As I look at all of the various activities and details shown in this work of art, I envision bringing my dream to fruition, bit by bit.

Hi and welcome to Grasshopper Homestead. I live in East Texas in the rural countryside with my beloved husband and a menagerie of pets and farm animals. A lifelong fascination with learning about the way things used to be is the inspiration behind my efforts to step back in time in little ways each day. A lover of the simple country life, I am creative, industrious, introspective, and a sucker for a flea market. Join me as I aspire to create a vintage country life.
