Welcome!
Grasshopper Homestead is for the woman who feels drawn to the wisdom of the past, but still has to live faithfully in the responsibilities of the present. Here, we recover old-fashioned homemaking skills, simple household routines, pantry wisdom, rural living principles, and Christian rhythms of stewardship — not to recreate another era, but to build a steadier, more peaceful, more capable home today. This is a place for women who want to slow the hurry, reduce the overwhelm, and cultivate a home that is rooted in grace and ready for real life.

Knitted Bunny

It feels really good to finally finish this project!  Earlier this year, a coworker had a baby and this stuffed rabbit is my gift to her.  I think it will make a nice stuffed toy or pillow.

I used Bernat Baby Jacquards yarn in the Easter Basket colorway.  The pattern came on the yarn label but is also available for free on the Bernat website if you register.

I knit the bunny on size 5 needles.  The pattern called for size 4, but I did not have needles in that size.  I tend to knit tightly anyway, so I figured going up a size would not matter in this instance where gauge is not important.

The embroidered face was my mom's idea and talent.  The pattern did not call for it, but I think it really adds a lot.  She used the expression from her bunny figurine as a go-by.

The other change I made is to include the ears within the gusset seam on the back of the head.  The pattern just said to sew them on the back of the head and I did not think that would look as nice or finished.  Overall, I think the bunny turned out pretty adorable.
